Department of History

History is not only the study of the past but it also plays a vital role of helping people and governments alike in learning from the past to make decisions at a crucial point of time in the present.

Study of history helps us in understanding the great culture of our country as the ancient history of India revolves around Indus Valley Civilisation which was one of the oldest civilisations of the world and most advanced among bronze age civilisations, known for its marvellous town planning, massive burnt brick structures, early evidences of Shaivism in the form of Pashupathinath carved on a seal, Early and Later Vedic Ages that witnessed the oldest democratic institutions of Sabha and Samithi, one of the oldest texts of the world Rig Veda and other Vedic literature and Mahajanapadas, the first empire of India the Mauryan Empire, the golden age of India under Gupta Empire, medieval history of India is about the greatness of Hindu rulers known as Rajputs who defended India against foreign Muslim invaders, the occupation of Indian kingdoms of Kakatiyas, Yadavas, Hoyasalas and Pandyas by the Delhi Sultanate established by foreign rulers, another wave of foreign rulers who established the Mughal Empire and the courage of Chhatrapati Shivaji who laid the foundations of the vast Maratha Empire which spread over an area of twenty five lakh square kilometres at its peak in the the year seventeen hundred and sixty and the history of modern India deals with the advent of Europeans and their subsequent occupation of India, struggle against the Birtish rule for independence of India.

The students of History have opportunities to serve in the government, take up research and carry out archaeological excavations.

Added advantages for students of History at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s New Science College includes special coaching by experienced faculty for the Civil Services Examination conducted by Union Public Service Commision and Group-I, Group-II, Group-III and Group-IV Examinations conducted by Telangana Public Service Commission and Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission and other such competitive examinations.

Department of Economics

The Department of Economics established in the year 1964.Thus the department can boast of having well qualified teaching faculty on its rolls. All the teachers are well exposed to teaching and research at different levels. The department is offering U.G.programmes. The department is having a Library with Standard books and Journals. The department has boast of computer facilities.

Department of Public Administration

The Department of Public administration has an experienced faculty with exposure to public administration at the National and International levels. The basic objective of the faculty is to develop itself with the changing of the future needs of economy and society. The other objective is to promote research efforts of academic staff to better understanding of the nature problems and potential at modern society.

Department of Political Science

Political Science is the king of social science, Aristotle, the Father of Political Science, called it as “master science”. It is the responsibility of the department of Political Science to translate these “Superb” views into reality, so the subject “could be regarded as” everybody’s subject, in as much as it is the every citizen irrespective of his profession, caste, religion, region and even nation. The department of Political Science was established in 1964.

The subject is offered in combination with Economics, Public administration and History. The basic aim of introducing the course was to enable students to take up careers in governmental services and public affairs. More number of foreign students is attracted towards this department as per the importance in their countries. With the introduction of Political Science as one of the subjects both in civil service examination of the UPSC and APPSC, the department has gained immense popularity among the students community. The department has well qualified, committed and dedicated faculty. The faculty participated in various national and international seminars. The department involves the students in various activities like mock assembly, debate, discussions, quiz, elocution competitions etc. Special attention is paid for the week students. The department moulds the students of Political Science as a good citizen of the country and enables them to guide their fellow citizen to build a healthy nation.
