It emphasizes on in-depth Theory and laboratory practice as it is student’s major outcome of learning chemistry. The vision of the Department is to be consistent in their efforts for providing quality education and create an outstanding place to work for the faculty members. The faculty strives to meet the diverse academic requirements of the students. From inception the Department has been disseminating knowledge that Chemistry graduates and post graduates acquire fundamental competencies in the different branches of Chemistry. It prepares students for scientific career and contribute in the Chemical and Biochemical Industries. The faculty strives to help students successfully pursue their careers after graduation in industry or Government. The main objectives of the Department are:

  • To master basic areas of organic, inorganic, analytical, physical and molecular/biological chemistry.

  • That students understand the objective of recording and anlyzing the chemical experiments, that they carry out in the laboratory

  • That they use classical techniques and modern instruments to take  experiments

  • That they follow the proper procedures and handle and use chemicals safely.

  • That they will be able to estimate given solutions and interpret the results correctly.

  • That they write the procedure and results of the chemical experiments effectively

  • That students learn to solve problems by formulating strategies

  • That students use computers to locate and retrieve scientific information about chemical techniques and issues relating to chemistry

  • That students apply knowledge of chemistry to other applied  and life sciences to function on multi-disciplinary/multi-functional teams,

  • That they have an understanding of professional and ethical responsibility.

  • That they broaden their education for  global and societal concerns

  • That they understand the need for, and an ability to engage in life-long learning

  • That they recognize contemporary issues to take new challenges
